Ms. Laila El Gammal has been endorsed by Marquis Who’s Who as a leader in the chemical engineering industry
SURREY, BC, October 26, 2018 Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Laila El Gammal with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. El Gammal celebrates many years’ experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Ms. El Gammal is an expert in sales who has been serving the textile industry for more than 42 years. She got her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University in 1963 and 1968 respectively. In 1963, she held the position of an Engineer in National Spinning & Weaving Company where she worked on the production line for two years then transferred to Misrrayon in 1968 and worked in their research and development department. In 1973, she earned a scholarship at Tachkent Textile Institute, as she was chosen from amongst more than 30 engineers because she fulfilled all the requirements; she was less than 35 years old, had a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and had a Master’s degree in dyeing. After that, she joined her father’s company, GIES, in 1976 when her father was starting to think about retirement. Despite her father’s initial refusal that she joins him, he surprised her that he wanted her to take charge of his office. When he passed away, she became the President of the company in 1981, and became firmly established in the field of spinning, weaving and dyeing. In 1991, Ms. Laila El Gammal founded Nobeltex; a new company besides the mother company, intended for the new generation in her family.
Introduced to the industry by her father, Eng. Mohammed Hussein El Gammal, she successfully managed to lead a family-owned group of three companies, G.I.E.S, Nobeltex and IEI, which have been active in the Egyptian market since the late 1950s providing machinery and fire protection services. The group’s main fields of activity include the textile industry, industrial air conditioning systems and fire protection systems.
In addition to overseeing everyday operations and performing quality assurance inspections, Ms. El Gammal is responsible for selling top quality products to customers and serving as an international agent for first-class international suppliers of textile machinery and accessories, air conditioning systems and fire protection systems. Continuing to strive for excellence with each new year, she is also active as a member of the Association of Engineers in Egypt as a way to remain alert of the ever-changing field and has participated in numerous events by the World Bank, the Economic Business Women Forum, the Middle East Businesswomen Association, and other similar organizations.
Being able to prove herself and her talents in a male-dominated field, Ms. El Gammal is proud of her many accomplishments. During her journey, Ms. El Gammal has notably been honored as an inspiring female entrepreneur for the Middle East and North Africa regions by the World Bank. She was also recognized with an Award of Excellence in 2007 and has been interviewed for her expertise on several occasions by various local business publications.
After training her daughter, Eng. Nayla El Tawil, for many years, Ms. El Gammal has passed along her many talents and expertise to her. Eng. El Tawil, Vice President of Nobeltex, has succeeded to take over her mother’s role in the business. Ms. El Gammal has one daughter, two sons and four grandchildren.
